Shoe conversions and growing-room allowances vary by brand. Measuring both feet is the safest starting point.

  1. Have the child stand on paper wearing the socks or tights they will use with the shoes.
  2. Mark the heel and the longest toe, then measure the distance in centimeters.
  3. Measure both feet and use the longer measurement.
  4. Compare the foot length with the brand information shown for the product. Add extra room only when the brand's guide instructs you to.

Understanding the labels

US toddler sizes usually run through 13 before restarting at kids' size 1. European sizes continue upward without restarting. When a product lists both systems, use the conversion printed on that product.

A generic US/EU conversion can differ by half a size or more between brands, so we do not treat one conversion chart as exact.
